The production of agricultural crops in the right quantity and quality necessitates careful usage of fertilisers. Therefore, as part of the activity Technical Support for Agriculture in Kosovo, the IWRM-K programme, in collaboration with partners IADK and EPI Centar, provided practical training for 50 grant beneficiaries from the second cycle on the issue of rational fertiliser use on apple (17 beneficiaries) and raspberry (33 beneficiaries).
The training covered fertigation techniques and equipment usage for apple and raspberry farming, including soil types, fertilizer timing and quantities, laboratory analysis for fertilizer recommendations, expense recording, and use of meteorological station data. Agrovet representatives provided valuable information. Sessions were held at Ms. Merita Mehmeti's farm in Novoberdo for apple farmers and Mr. Refik Krasniqi's farm in Prishtina for raspberry growers. The goal was to promote practical implementation of fertigation and responsible fertilizer usage, enhancing productivity while minimizing environmental impact.
The training supports farmers in enhancing their knowledge and skills for effective and appropriate fertilizer use, reducing rates of use and unnecessary expenses. It also aims to reduce pollution of rivers and water flows caused by uncontrolled fertilizer use.
