The USAID Project Partnership for better busyness regulation was host of two day forum, one held in Tetovo and one in Skopje, were was discussed about the challenges which are facing the companies during hiring qualified workers in North Macedonia. The forum looked at the new measures for improving employment and better competence of the young professionals who are entering the labor market.
“We have an important goal to propose new measures that will facilitate the recruitment of new employees in companies. The adoption of the new Law on Labor Relations is under way for which the opinion of the private sector should be heard, and also with analyzes and involvement of experts and all stakeholders" said Ljubomir Dimovski, director of EPI Center International and USAID Project Partnership for better business regulation.
Representatives from government, private sector and academia recognized the urgent need for skilled workers, agreed on education reform and retraining young professionals as potential solutions. Migration is a serious problem that alters the supply of labor and increases labor discrepancy in North Macedonia. High-skilled workers, such as IT experts, medical staff and engineers, migrate to more developed countries for better paid jobs. These challenges can be addressed through joint efforts of the government and the private sector.
The USAID project Partnership for Better Business Regulation is implemented by EPI CENTAR International in partnership with the Economic Chamber of Macedonia, the Economic Chamber of Information and Communication Technologies (MASIT), the Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia and the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce. So far, the Project has been active in the area of improving the regulation of labor relations, including the preparation of the new Law on Internships, which is currently in the process of adoption in parliament.
