On September 25 EPI CENTAR International participated at the sub-sector meeting for seeds and seedling material, held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy. The main aim of the event was to provide an opportunity for presenting 34 by-laws regarding seeds and seedling material that were amended in accordance with the latest changes in the Law on seed and seedling material, and the latest EU regulative.
At the meeting, there was a high-quality discussion between the representatives of the Ministry, the Seed and Seedlings Administration, the business sector, academic representatives and representatives from the chambers of commerce in Macedonia. The discussion was focused mostly to the guidelines for further improvement of the documents in a way that will enable more effective growth of the Macedonian agriculture sector. Accordingly, in continuation of the event activities, the prepared 34 by-laws were formally submitted to the Ministry for further consideration.
The initiative is implemented as a result of the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the USAID Project Partnership for Better Business Regulation and the Ministry in order to improve the agriculture sector through long-term sustainable development and encouraging the competitiveness of the Macedonian producers both on the domestic and foreign markets. This memorandum is a major step forward in the process of building a stable and fruitful relationship between the chambers of commerce in the country, as well as between the chambers of commerce and the national institutions.
The activity is realized within the USAID Partnership for Better Business Regulation Project, implemented by EPI CENTAR International in cooperation with the four partners: Economic Chamber of Macedonia; Economic Chamber of Information and Communication Technologies - MASIT, Economic Chamber of northwest Macedonia and Macedonian Chambers of Commerce. In the upcoming period, the Project and all project partners will continue to work on this initiative and contribute to better legal compliance of the companies in the country.
