USAID’s Partnership for Better Business Regulation Project held a conference “The current challenges of the business community related to business regulations.” The purpose of the conference was to bring together representatives from the private and public sectors in order to foster better understanding of the regulatory issues that negatively affect the private sector. Similarly, the conference aimed to help private sector improve their compliance with existing regulation and to inform them about their rights during an inspection. The conference was attended by representatives of the business community, public enterprises and institutions.
In his remarks, H.E. Mr. Jess Baily, U.S. ambassador to Macedonia, noted: “Only with strong cooperation between the public and private sector we can develop solutions to create a business environment that will support and foster growth. I encourage everyone here to advance this goal, and hope that the solutions presented here today will be a joint first step to the benefit of all businesses in the country. Through USAID, the U.S. Government is supporting the Chambers of Commerce to be a strong voice to advocate for pro-business policies that will generate economic growth. Economic growth is a focus area of the U.S. Government’s assistance to Macedonia.
In the following period, the Project will support private sector’s efforts to positively engage with relevant government institutions to evaluate and address issues of an unstable and unfriendly business environment that affect the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
All Project activities are implemented by EPI CENTAR International and its three key sub-partners: Economic Chamber of Macedonia; ICT Chamber of Commerce – MASIT; and Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia.
